NEW LOOK
Ok i'm trying out a new look now courtesy of jaymsterbean... thanks jamie... haven't had the time to actually put entries in this blog since a lot of things has happened lately.
More like disasters really.. first my Mitac laptop got broken ... the hinge cracked and the LCD monitor went out... next my Desktops hard drives and motherboard crashed, which needed prompt replacement. I lost all my documents and it'll be such a pain to actually compile my stuff again. I am getting a new laptop this week and i miss having a laptop beside my bed.
Oh plus i have a new baby!!! I have a brand new Taylor 214e acoustic guitar!!! i'll be posting a pic as soon as i put her down. I really l0ve the sound of this guitar, can't wait to actually use it in a recording.
I did get my 15 minute of fame as i guested on TV but i think that episode deserves another blog post.
:-)

Congratulations Pao and Aileen!
I had met Pao's brother Noel Zarate several years back on a project involving music for a musical play. I like the guy because he was funny and easy to work along with besides the fact that he did great orchestral arrangements. Now he's usually seen on TV as a bearded sportscaster.
Years later i would have the pleasure of working with his younger brother, Paolo or Pao as he's known in the music world. Pao is Jon M's arranger for most of his project... since he is a very funny guy as well as one of the best young musical arrangers in the land, not to mention that he is a very good vocal coach and backup singer. He has done arrangements for Erik Santos, Sheryn, Josh Santana , Vina M and countless others. He also produced OJ Mariano's debut album for Reddmon Productions. A former member of the singing group Quarter to Five and the UST Choir and studied music at UST.
I play guitars on almost all his arrangements for Jon and since i mix those songs i eventually came to being a really good friend to Pao. One thing i won't forget about Pao is that he actually convinced me to go to Gym and actually waking me up to remind me that it's time to go to the Gym.
I know how hard it was for Pao to be in a long distance relationship since Aileen works in NYC and how faithfull and devoted he was to their relationship... I promised Pao that on his wedding day i would actually attend wearing formal clothes. I believe in wearing comfortable clothes to work in the studio hence i'm a shirt and shorts guy.
The wedding was wonderfull and really unique since the UST Choir was there togetherwith wind and strings players from UST of course, and the groom sang Gary V's Kailangan kita while the bride was walking down the aisle. Oh the wedding was at the Christ The King Church in Greenmeadows.
The reception was at the Peninsula in Makati and the guest included other arrangers and musicians as well. I had a great time renewing acquiantances and friends i haven't seen in a long time. All in all it was a wonderfull wedding and i'm very happy for Pao and Aileen and i wish them the best of everything.
It saddens me though that Pao might go to NYC to join his wife. But i know he'll be successfull in his endeavors and that he'll make a good husband to Aileen.
Congratulations my friends...
:-)

Here is one pic you don't see everyday... haha Jon says i look like a congressman... i think i look more like a barangay councilman but i had promised Pao that i would actually go to his wedding wearing this outfit. This is actually my first time to wear this. Maybe i'd wear this again when Jon or Marlone or Alexie gets married. :-)

Finally got time off from work after finishing the vina M album and the new sheryn album, and i decided to spend some time in Hong Kong to visit Ocean Park and walk around the city.
HK is cool since it only takes an hour and fortyfive mins to get there.
Got to see the usual tourist sites like Victoria Peak and the harbor and i even got to Shenzen... don't know if i got the name right but it's the border town between HK and China. The night markets reminded me of Greenhills... since their main products for sale were copy bags and copy watches... :-)
Getting around wasn't a problem at all since they have a very efficient train system and people there walk a lot. They also have low phone rates so people hardly ever use the texting service... calling on the phone is faster and cheaper than texting. I like the way the city is organized into residential and business centers. I think their zoning scheme really works.
I might go back there when the HK Disney opens... i hear it's opening in Septermber.
I'll probably go in January when the holiday season is over and airfares and hotel rates are a little bit lower.
I enjoyed my short stay in HK ... i find it to be a well planned and organized place, i could probably live there if i knew how to speak the Chinese language hahaha... ordering food from a chinese resto proved to be quite an ordeal... if the menu didn't have pictures i would probably have starved!!! HEHE
