When i was about 18, (which to me now seems like an eternity) i learned to play the guitar with a locally made electric guitar my mother bought me as a birthday gift and things were never the same again!
It was really weird because i didn't come from a musically oriented family... Oh i did find out later on that my grandfather (rest his soul) on my mothers side did play ouido violin. He wasn't really a violin player but learned to play as a trade. So eventually i ended up with a band of my own and started playing professionally when i was 19.
When my kids were born i had to make a choice on whether i should continue playing or look for a decent regular job. I guess that's the primary reason why i shifted to being a recording techie... at least i could still be involved in music creation. I found myself on the other side of the recording studio though ... not inside the booth where musicians play but inside the control room.
I learned my music from playing live every night and interacting with different musicians. It was simply because i didn't have the time and the means of staying in school. I guess that's where i learned how to arrange music... to this day i arrange like how a five piece band would perform it, always considering the final sound of the song when played live onstage.
So i guess i'm an enigma of sorts... being able to play and arrange musically and actually able to record and mix my work as well :-)
I love my guitars... they may not be the most expensive or precision made insturments on the market, but the guitars i own have been kept because they have been chosen and cared for as if they were real persons who have been with me for quite some time, as my constant companions in this mad existense we call life.
Everytime something sad happens in my life i turn to them .
When things are really bad, i just pick up one of them and start strumming and playing to nothing in particular... It's as if the act of holding something near me and my fingers moving to a random rhythm helps to soothe out whatever stress i'm going through.
Ive actually composed guitar pieces when my current relationships were failing but could never get to actually record them and work on them as i feel that they were written for persons i have loved and lost but hold dearly in my memories.
Music IS the soundtrack of life! My guitars are the only ones left with me after all the troubled relationships i've had, after being mad and being sad i turn to the only friends i have who'll always be there for me.... My guitars
And as a final note my daugher Da says that if i get another one she'd probably Bop me in the head with it... Hahahha

Panay Avenue is undergoing road widening construction, so besides the dust and the obvious lack or parking space, they have this huge machine digging into what was once half of the parking lot of the building! Since it was unsuitable condition for recording anyways as the noise was being heard inside the studios, i decided to visit the Star Records office in ABS. So off i went with Marlone and Alexie to the ABS CBN compound.
They were having an awarding of sorts from the management because of the obvious success Star Records has done for the past year or two. I'd like to think that i'm a part of that in my own little way. I've been doing albums for them for the past year or two so go figure... hehhee
I did see Jaimee, Ate Beth, Ernie and of course Mona. Jonathan was wearing formal attire with Sketchers. I've never seen him look so formal! hahaha so thats how he'll look like when he gets married! LOL
I did see some of their artists which i had the pleasure to work with in the past... Josh Santana, Sheryn Regis, Michael Cruz, Johann Escanan, and Marinel Santos...
Im using the Nissan today since the other car needs to be repaired ... why is it the costlier the car the bigger the repairs cost? But if you don't have the repairs done they wont work! so its like the chicken and the egg thingy!!! Actually since i had the stereo in the nissan upgraded, complete with the subwoofer... it actually is kinda cool to drive nowadays... hey maybe someday i could actually afford a driver! Nah i don't thinks so... well maybe if i get incapacitated or actually incapable of driving a vehicle myself, then maybe i would consider it... or just think of better things to do at home.

After finishing the OJ Mariano album for Reddmon, OJ's management and production group , a day earlier than expected, i found myself having a free day :-)
so off i went to have the cars washed... I still have my red nissan for sentimental reasons... i can't seem to be able to part with it ... too many memories attached to it i guess!
Though after driving an SUV to work everyday, i still like using the nissan for errands and going to the mall on weekends, no matter how many times i get it fixed somehow driving around with it reminds me of happier times in my life. I got to watch Kung Fu Hustle which was a blast... i really like watching chinese movies with subtitles! Strange as it may seem as i don't speak nor write chinese i actually enjoy them.
Ill try to put more photos of my Recording Studio in this blog and i will try to put a photo blog of sorts of the projects i do...
After the movie i met up with Jon and Jaymee at the mall and had dinner with them as well.
All in all a fruitfull and relaxing day by my lonesome since being a saturday night the kids were out to gimiks!!! ow man...
:-)
