Last Saturday we did vocals for the theme song of the new Aga Mulach movie entitled Dubai... Star Cinema apparently banking on the success of the Piolo P and Claudine movie called Milan ... has done it again with this new movie.
The arrangement was done by Mon Faustino originally recorded on his Powerbook using Pro Tools LE on Mbox hardware.
It was nice seeing GV again... and we had a blast talking about our new gear, since he has the same Pro Tools setup in his house as what i have in the studio. GV once again proved that he's one of the best singers in the land by breezing through this song written by Ogie Alcasid. Singing with passion and precision as only Gary V could.
Today we recorded Tito Benjie whose last name i can't remember right now... he plays violin with PPO and is one of the best violin players we have right now. He provided the solo violin track you'll hear in the middle of the song.
Everything went well except that in the mixing stage Mon F noticed that his intruments sound dull compared to the brilliance and clarity of GV's vocal take... so we decided for him to bring his gear to the studio... mainly his Yamaha Motiff keyboard and his Roland Sound modules. Mon F is not really familiar with computer based sampling instruments yet and prefers hardware based modules for his sounds. Understandable since he uses his gear for live perfomances with his band Powerplay.
The song itself is a haunting ballad with lush strings and dark piano... very well orchestrated...which reminded me of another song we did before called Kailangan Kita incidentally another Aga Mulach movie. I even joked about GV being the favorite of Star Cinema when it comes to doing theme songs for Aga Mulach movies.
Oh and maybe tommorrow i'll tell you the title of the song.
