Having finished the new Search for a Star in the million album i've decided to upgrade my Pro Tools Mix Plus system which now runs on a Mac G4 400 for the current HD versions which required Mixsonic to purchase the new G5 from apple! and i immediately fell in love with it!!! Talk about fast computing and ease of use i think the Mac OS X blows away Windows any time of the day.
I've been using the Pro Tools Mix Plus for quite sometime now along with my favorite plugins which are the tools i need to shape and color my sounds as i mold them or mix them into the final version that actually comes out on the CDs that are made to be distrubuted to consumers. I'm always hesitant to change systems as being my old fashioned self, i've always believed that if something ain't broke then there should be no need to replace it. I don't jump into the bandwagon just to be among the first ones to actually have new gear.
Being the first to own a new computer isn't exactly the wisest thing to do. Companies will often release their products even if they're not yet a hundred percent just to be able to raise funds as they work toward making it flawless. I guess that's why we have service packs for Microsoft Windows :-) and the Jaguars and the Panthers and the new and exciting Tiger
Upgrading to the new Pro Tools system would actually improve music production as this will be a faster and more efficient way to do sound recordings. Already the benefits of non linear Audio Recording has given way to being more productive in the studio. I have held off the change for quite a long time as i wanted to be sure that the new system will give me more than what i use now.
The only downside to upgrading is actually setting it up!!! New systems needs new hardware as well for example, since the new G5 doesnt use IDE drives but use serial ATA drives instead which makes my old SCSI drives useless , along with my other IDE drives... so it'll probably mean that i will have a few days off just trying to get the system to work. Though i've heard that Jon and Marlone have started vocals on the new Sheryn Regis album.
I hope i could get a few days off but... then again i might not
